She sat on the moving staircase, she had been on her way to the library when a sudden shot of emotion came over her. Mixed feelings were always with her about the boy who lived. She thought she had gotten over him. Gained a boyfriend, brokme up with that boyfriend, then gained another. And she would dump him in a heart beat for Harry. She sat on the stair case a book for defense against the dark arts in her hand. It was a 7th year level book, but she managed to get a hold of it. Sitting there she opened the book. students passed her on the stairs, going both ways. The staircase then began to move for the third time, but it didn't bother her.

Hermione was wandering around the school and stopped to wait for a staircase to move to where she was standing. She started to descend but stopped when she saw a girl with a shock of red hair sat reading on the stairs.
"Ginny?" she asked as she sat beside her, "Why are you sat on the stairs?"
She cast her eyes to the book in Ginny's hand and was pleasantly surprised to find that she was reading a book meant for 7th years.
"I didn't realise that you were this good at defence, Gin," she smiled.

"No one's really taken to noticing those things I"m good at." She kept looking at the book, the closed book on her lap, which had her arms across it now. She looked towards Hermione with one of her famous Ginny smiles and s poke once more. "Hello Hermione.. Headed to see my brother?" She smirked watching the 7th year. "You two are pretty close, huh." She just hoped he didn't spill to her about her feelings for Potter.

"Your brother?" she asked, innocently, "I don't know what you're talking about."
She smiled slyly at Ginny as she turned to face her and then started to giggle because she knew that she couldn't hide it from her.
"And what would you do if I was?" she teased.

"Nothing.. I'm excited for you. He'll kill me if he knew I told you this, but he's always had a fancy to you.. Though he wouldn't admit it" She made that up of course, she had no idea. She just assumed based on Ron's behavior around the girl. She smirked looking back towards the book, which her hand was running across. "Wouldn't want to keep you from wherever you are going."

Hermione blushed bright red at Ginn'y words.
"Really?" she squeaked, uncharacteristically, "I mean, that's nice."
She smiled as Ginny ran her hand across her book.
"I really don't mind sitting with you, if you want some company. Although, I will leave if you want me to," she smiled.

She wanted to tell her she needed more time a lone, she was afraid she would see something was bugging her, and if she ended up slipping out potters name well that wouldn't be good, not not good at all.
"I wouldn't mind company for a bit.. "

Hermione smiled gently at Ginny's troubled face and resumed her seat on the step next to her.
"Is there something wrong?" she asked, "You don't have to tell me what it is, if you don't want to, but I will try to help if I can."

"I guess.. I'm not sure." She commented looking away from Hermione to the book. " You know I'm happy in the relationship i'm in now.. and the fact ron is still unaware of this relationship is good." She smirked. "But I.. it's nothing.. nevermind."

"Yes," Hermione smiled, "You know how Ron can be."
She cocked her head to the side.
"Well if you need somebody to talk to, don't hesitate to find me. You can even send me an owl if you don't want to talk face to face."
She stood and straightened her robes.
"I really need to go now, I have to help the boys with their homework. I'll see you at dinner," she smiled, before walking back towards the Gryffindor common room.

"Yea.. see you later.' she responded. Waiting a momet she suddenly shot up from her position and turned to face the girl who seemed to be in love with her brother. "If you see Harry, tell him i'm looking for him. Thanks." with that, she headed th opposite way from Hermione. she walked slowly, holding the book close to her.
